Social Media Monitoring of VSCO - Part 1

Are you an active user of social networks and especially of instagram?
If you are, so I'm sure you've heard about this app or seen how often bloggers use the hashtag  #VSCO
VSCO is a company that creates digital tools for creative people. The most popular VSCO product is the VSCO Cam application for photo edit which competes with Instagram.
Visual Supply Company was founded by Joel Flory and Greg Lutze in California in 2011. First they created web tools for graphic designers and photographers, but these tools were not very popular. Everything changed when in June 2013 a free VSCO Cam application was released - on the first week after the release it was downloaded by over a million people, and the company managed to attract not only professional photographers but also just users of Instagram.
Now for VSCO working several dozen people who used to do projects for Apple, MTV, Audi, Levi's, Adobe, Sony, Xbox, Getty Images, Nintendo and Adidas. In addition to VSCO Cam, the company is working on a VSCO Film processing tool and VSCO Keys add-on for Adobe Lightroom.

Looking at trends
I choose to look at VSCO trends over last one year.
We can see the peak on December 24 - December 30, 2017.
Why it happened?
At this period of time VSCO made a realease of the new tool and it caused big interest!

I compared VSCO to VSCOCAM (software) during the same period of time (past 12 months)
The graphic shows that people more interested in whole company not just smartphone app.
Social Mention allows us to look at the different aspects of the posts.
"strength"
Strength is the likelihood that your brand is being discussed in social media.
"sentiment"
Sentiment is the ratio of mentions that are generally positive to those that are generally negative.
"passion"
Passion is a measure of the likelihood that individuals talking about your brand will do so repeatedly.
"reach"
Reach is a measure of the range of influence. It is the number of unique authors referencing your brand divided by the total number of mentions.

So, here I've compared the whole day, week, and month to get a comprehensive picture of what is happening.
We can see from these metrics that most posts are neutral, meaning they are not strongly negative or positive. Reach, strength and passion are all relatively low. This may be due to the fact that the company is new and they haven't had time to build a strong reputation.

Also, looking at VSCO results from Social Mention, I noticed that the activity on Twitter was much higher than then through traditional blog channels.

Summarizing the first part of VSCO's Social Media Monitoring I would like to admit that the company actively holds a leading position among photo editing applications and users are enthusiastically following the VSCO’s community at social networks.

Social Media Monitoring of VSCO- Part 2

The application VSCO positions itself as an "antisocial" social network: you can not leave comments. You can not "like" the photo. The only thing you can do is subscribe to photographers whose works you admire. The VSCO team carefully selects photographers for whom you can subscribe. As I wrote in previous Social Media Monitoring post , the VSCO has big communities on Facebook , Instagram , and It has a channel on YouTube . T he total number of followers on social networks is about 5 million people. Those numbers are important for the success of VSCO’s digital marketing strategy. By posting engaging content on a regular basis, the company is able to demonstrate value in becoming a subscriber and be a user of the application. Strengths  The market for photo editing applications is oversaturated, but there are no really good quality applications with minimalist design, made specifically for the creative industry workers. VSCO has a global mission to ...

ENERGIZING THE GROUNDSWELL: Tapping into the power of word of mouth

You are surfing on Facebook or Instagram and every 10th item in your news feed is advertising. Do you want to tell your friends about the product that you saw?  I would guess that you don’t!  But there are such products and advertising that we share with pleasure. Why is this happening? Because the brand / product / advertising make us have vivid emotions, and it is our experience that we share. This is called WOM (word of mouth) marketing. This is a way of communicating information in the process of personal communication: comments, advice, assessments, etc.     …word of mouth “is the most honest form of marketing, building upon people’s natural desire to share their experiences with family, friends, and colleagues.” It can’t be faked, but it can be encouraged.   According to statistics, 90% of the world's population trusts the recommendations of friends. This is especially true of areas of "increased trust": jurisprudence, medici...
